Little did I know when I was interviewed for this editorial how rapidly my life was to change in the following months! It was turned upside down!
In late October 2015 I moved with my husband, Peter to Te Araroa on New Zealand’s beautiful East Cape but unfortunately, only just over two months later my beloved Peter passed away suddenly. I was devastated and understandably I did not produce a lot of work in the past year, however I did manage to produce five paintings (two of which were commissions).
It is now the beginning of March 2017 and I am ready to be creative again! I just love being here on Pariwhero (the Whanau farm) at Te Araroa where I’m surrounded not only with beautiful people but the landscapes and seascapes all around the East Cape are truly spectacular and inspire me everyday! Howick and Whitford will always be close to my heart too and I travel backwards and forwards between the two places often. My goal though is to not only to paint the East Cape, Howick and Auckland but also many other beautiful spots around New Zealand. It’s a new future for me now and I’m ready to take on the challenge!
